WIRED 2012

WIRED 2012

Wired 2012

We’ve taken a diligent look at our Wired fan club over this last year.  We’ve gone back and forth on whether it is something that we should continue into the future.  On one hand it gives fans and families of fans some exclusive access to the band.  On the other hand, it can be taxing for us to take the time we’d like to with our wired fans on top of other obligations to VIP ticket holders and radio station winners.  We’ve had nights that have been incredibly rewarding for wired members and the band, and we’ve had nights where everyone has left disappointed.  Without a doubt, we set the bar really high the first few years.  It’s very difficult to continue to meet that standard with other obligations. We'd rather reign in the expectations, and then work hard to pleasantly surprise you!

Our first step was to make the Wired membership a calendar year membership for 2011.  Previously, it was an annual membership, which made it difficult to every tweak the benefits.  We tried to clearly define the benefits for 2011, and made it more affordable by removing the tee shirt and shipping element from the package.

This blog will hopefully serve on a clarification for 2012 benefits.

The wired membership will continue to offer

1. access to presales when possible.

2. A 20% discount on the Online store

3. Access to THE meet and greet at 2012 concerts.

Notice the word “THE.”  For 2012, the band will be doing one meet and greet before each concert.  We would like the ability to determine what that meet and greet should be depending on the size of the crowd.  If it is a small crowd, me might just chat individually, sign autographs, and take pictures.  If it is a medium sized crowd, we might just do a Q&A session.  If it is a large crowd, me might do an acoustic set.  For the sake of the performance that evening, and all of our time, we would like to get back the flexibility to determine what the meet and greet should be for each specific situation.  This will allow us to serve you better, and make sure that we’re saving some energy for a great performance.

Also, we are working with the promoters now to try and make the VIP packages they offer an 'add to cart' item, not tied directly to the premium tickets so many of you want.  This should save Wired members money because you will no longer need to pay for a ticket that includes a VIP premium to get the best seats.  As a Wired member, buying the VIP upgrade would be redundant.  This should also make our tickets be more affordable to more people.

The Wired fan club is not for everyone.  If you are only able to make it out to one Third Day concert next year, you may be better off just buying a VIP package for that show.  However, if the one concert near you is a festival, Wired might be the only meet and greet opportunity you will have.  I know this might be a difficult decision as we have not yet released our 2012 tour dates, but this is the best information we can give you at this time.

If you enjoy coming to multiple Third Day shows in a year, buy a good bit of online merchandise, want the best tickets, and want to be able to have exclusive access to the band at any show you attend, Wired 2012 is the ticket.

Just wondering about photos for the upcoming show in Salt Lake City in May. The venue's default policy is no cameras at all unless the band asks that they be allowed. So, can you all ask if we can have them? Thanks!! I know you don't do this, but maybe it can be passed along to the right person.

I probably should have read this before I purchased both the membership and the VIP ticket. LOL I do hope we get to chat a little bit at least. I haven't seen y'all in a very long time. So happy you are finally coming close enough for me to go!! :) I've missed ya!

Thank you guys so much .. this is an awesome perk to the Third Day concert experience and the concerts would not be the same without out it. I love everything about it. I would love to see an acoustic set just for the wired members sometime (that is one thing I haven't done yet).. Looking forward to seeing the 2012 Tour dates posted.. Hopefully I can make it to a few of them.. Thank you for everything you do .. You Guys ROCK!!!!

Tai - I trust that you all are making these decisions in the best way possible, for yourselves and for your fans. You guys are so wonderful to all of us, and work so hard to make every show the next best one -- I can't complain. I've been blessed with many wonderful opportunities to see Third Day this year. It would be nice to have a M&G at every show next year, but having been in some of those larger crowds, I've seen how taxing it is on the fans and on you all. I hope the 2012 schedule will bring you close enough to my neck of the woods to see you again, and that there'll be a M&G involved. I'll be a 2012 Wired member, no matter what. But I will for certain see you on the cruise, and one more time this year, in Raleigh. Be blessed! -- Cathy

Tai, thanks to you and all the rest of the guys! I am so glad the M&Gs are going to continue!! The tickets changes would be awesome! We see you guys several times each year so this would be great. Thanks for trying to spend time with all of us wired folks, and the great shows you guys put on! The Gomers are alive and well and rockin it with Third Day!!

    Tai:

I really like the idea of making the VIP package an add-on, instead of having Wired members paying for the same thing twice to get good seats. I just purchased my 2011 Wired membership in August--so it still expires at the end of December? Just throwing it out there, since there are probably others in the same boat. I'm sure you guys will address that kind of thing later. Anyway, we all really appreciate how hard y'all work and how courteous you always are. We are fans of the best bunch of guys in the best band in the world, ever! :)

God bless you guys always. I am currently stationed in Hawaii with the U.S. Army and was curious to find out if you guys were planning on coming this way to do a show. You did a show Jan 19, 2008 in Baghdad, Iraq during the time that I was there, however, I was home on leave for my birthday. What a downer it was to know that I could have seen you all ON my birthday! So please consider Oahu, Hawaii on your 2012 tour. I am sure that you could spread God's glory here as well.

Tai, your band is definitely second to none in giving the avid fan the best possible concert experience as well as personal interaction with the band members to the best your abilities. The Wired Fan Club has got to be the best band fan club in existence! For people who ever encounter a negative experience at a M&G, the primary cause of the disappointments are due to crowd size. Too many people, too little time. You and your band mates know that firsthand, so does your experienced Wired fan.

I've had the pleasure of attending 28 M&Gs so far, 10 of them this year. The only element that reduces the quality of a M&G is the crowd factor. For a seasoned Wired member who can have multiple M&G opportunities, that's no big deal. For the one time or first time people at a M&G, it can have a greater impact. The Eden Prairie, Minnesota show on 10/14 is a prime example. There had to be 200+ people in line to meet the band and get group photos. Due to serious time restraints because of the massive crowd, there were no autographs and minimal face time. That was very understandable and completely unavoidable. However, it did leave some new members feeling shortchanged. The adjustments you outlined in your blog should make a noticeable difference.

I hope anyone who reads this commentary that has had a negative experience at a M&G will take into consideration how the crowd size often has a major impact in determining the overall quality of a Meet & Greet experience. Please do not blame the band members, Lott (the Tour Manager) or any of the staff. They all work very diligently to do the best job humanly possible.

We love you Third Day, appreciate all your ongoing efforts, and will continue to stay Wired!

Not happy says: Posted Nov 18, 2011 - 10:27 pm

Not sure why but the San Angelo concert was cancelled. After making a 2 hour trip with an excited 9 year old we arrived to find out the concert was cancelled! No notice - and to this point no refund! Not a big fan at this point - nothing even mentioned on Third Day facebook page.

Good idea to cut back. This was my first Third day concert, my daughter's first concert ever and we went back to the meet and greet. It was very disappointing. There was no time to really meet or greet them, there were so many people...and the guys in the band seemed very crabby- overtired or something- not sure. Just very disappointing experience.
