NASHVILLE, TN—May 6, 2011—Four-time GRAMMY® Award-winning band Third Day will be joined by an all-star lineup of musicians and Alabama radio/TV personalities for the "Make Your Move Alabama Tornado Relief Benefit," which will take place on Sunday, May 15th, at Birmingham's BJCC Arena, beginning at 6 pm CT (doors open at 5 pm). Spearheaded by Third Day, the concert will also feature performances by Tenth Avenue North, Trevor Morgan and Rush of Fools, along with appearances by special guest radio personalities Rick & Bubba, Alabama's ABC-TV 33/40 meteorologist James Spann and author/speaker David Nasser. Additional performers will be announced in the coming days.
The "Make Your Move Alabama Tornado Relief Benefit" concert will aid Alabama victims of the devastating band of tornadoes that tore through the South on April 27. Proceeds will be distributed statewide through the Come Together Fund to several chosen relief agencies, including: The Birmingham Dream Center, Alabama Baptist Tornado Relief, Samaritan's Purse and World Vision. All of these agencies are already on the ground working to meet the immediate needs of Alabama tornado victims.
"When we heard about the devastation caused by the storms and tornadoes in Alabama and our home state of Georgia, we, just like everyone else, wanted to do something to help," said Third Day's Mac Powell, an Alabama native. "We are so excited that so many of our friends agreed to stand beside us as we attempt to have a night that will not only raise money and supplies for many people that so desperately need it, but raise hope and build faith through this great night of music and encouragement."
"As a local pastor in Alabama, I have seen first-hand the devastation caused by these tornadoes," said Nasser, whose Christ City Church and David Nasser Outreach ministry are both based in Birmingham. "This benefit will usher in great aid to those who need it most. This is more than a concert, this is ministry. Pure, raw, real ministry."
General admission tickets will be $10 at the door. A limited number of $100 VIP packages are available, which include a premium concert seat, a Q&A session with all artists, an exclusive autographed VIP event poster, and an autographed copy of David Nasser's book, Glory Revealed. VIP packages may be purchased via the event's website: www.makeyourmovebenefit.com [1].
Third Day is in the midst of headlining the 35-city "Make Your Move" Tour across the U.S. with fellow tour mates Tenth Avenue North and Trevor Morgan.
